Report: Liverpool wanted Edinson Cavani this summer

A report claims that Liverpool tried to sell Luis Suarez to Paris Saint-Germain this summer in a deal that would have seen Edinson Cavani move the other way.

Liverpool reportedly attempted to sell Luis Suarez to Paris Saint-Germain this summer in a move that would have seen Edinson Cavani come the other way.

After the 2014 World Cup, it quickly became clear that Suarez would depart Anfield, which alerted the majority of Europe's top clubs.

According to France Football, Liverpool offered Suarez to PSG in a bid to secure unsettled Cavani as his replacement at Anfield.

However, it is understood that Suarez only ever wanted to move to Barca.

Instead, Liverpool signed Mario Balotelli from AC Milan late in the transfer window.
