Liverpool complete a £35m deal for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, according to a report.

Liverpool have reportedly completed a £35m deal for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.

The 24-year-old was in strong form for the Seagulls during the 2022-23 campaign, featuring on 40 occasions in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and registering three assists in the process.

Mac Allister also played a key role in Argentina winning the 2022 World Cup, making six appearances at the competition, and he scored against Poland in the group stage of the competition.

Brighton signed the South American to a new contract last October, but it became clear earlier this year that the Seagulls would not be able to keep hold of him due to the growing interest in his services.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been linked with the midfielder over the last six months, but Liverpool have emerged as the favourites in recent weeks.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have now completed a deal for the midfielder, who has already undergone his medical with the Merseyside giants.

Romano claims that the Reds have only paid £35m for the Argentine after triggering a clause which existed in his Brighton contract.

Mac Allister started his professional career with Argentinos Juniors before moving to Brighton in 2019, and he has represented the Seagulls on 112 occasions, scoring 20 goals and registering nine assists.

Liverpool are preparing to overhaul their midfield this summer, with James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all being released by the Reds.

Inter Milan's Nicolo Barella is also said to be a target, with Jurgen Klopp's side believed to want another two midfielders after Mac Allister joins.

Liverpool, at one stage, were believed to be the favourites to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, but the England international is now on the verge of joining Real Madrid.

There will not be any Champions League football on offer at Anfield next term, with the Reds only finishing fifth in this season's Premier League table.

Liverpool are also believed to be interested in signing Fulham's Kenny Tete and Borussia Monchengladbach's Kouadio Kone during the upcoming market.

Chelsea's Mason Mount had also allegedly been a leading target, but Man United have seemingly emerged as the favourites to sign the England international this summer.
