New Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri wants to use Cristiano Ronaldo as a false nine next season, according to a report.

New Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri reportedly plans to use Cristiano Ronaldo as a false nine next season.

Ronaldo joined Juve from Real Madrid in last summer's transfer window and scored 28 goals in 43 appearances for the Italian giants during the 2018-19 campaign.

While the Portuguese's first season in Italy brought the league title, it proved to be his lowest goalscoring campaign since his final year with Manchester United.

According to Corriere della Sera, Sarri flew out to the French Riviera to meet with Ronaldo on his yacht, where the pair, alongside sporting director Fabio Paratici, discussed the 34-year-old playing in a new false nine role at the tip of the Juve attack.

Ronaldo struck an incredible 450 goals in 438 appearances during his time with Madrid, where he largely operated on the left of a front three.

Juve, meanwhile, are said to have won the race to sign Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt in this summer's transfer window.
