Italy playmaker Andrea Pirlo has backed the idea of Francesco Totti returning to the national team.
Azzurri coach Cesare Prandelli said earlier this week that he could consider the Roma forward for a call-up if his side qualify for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
"The doors to the national side are always open for champions such as him," Pirlo told reporters on Wednesday.
Totti has scored nine goals in 58 matches for Italy but has not featured for his country since the 2006 World Cup finals.
