Mick McCarthy hails two-goal hero Freddie Sears

Mick McCarthy reveals his delight with Freddie Sears following the striker's brace in the 4-2 win over Birmingham City.

Mick McCarthy has lavished two-goal striker Freddie Sears with praise after Ipswich Town recorded a 4-2 victory over Birmingham City at Portman Road.

Sears, who joined the Tractor Boys from Colchester United last month, played a key role as the hosts climbed up to third in the Championship, and McCarthy was quick to reveal his delight with the form of the 25-year-old.

"I have been impressed with Freddie from the moment he walked through the door," the Ipswich boss told reporters. "He certainly has a chance of playing in the Premier League and we have a chance if he continues to play like that.

"He left the Premier League to go to Colchester and I admire him for going down to go back up again.

"I am delighted with him, his second goal was outstanding but both goals were really good finishes."

Ipswich meet Norwich City in the East Anglian derby at Carrow Road on Saturday.
