Danny Devine goal enough for Inverness Caledonian Thistle

Danny Devine scores the only goal to give Inverness Caledonian Thistle a 1-0 win over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle have progressed to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup after securing a narrow 1-0 win over Raith Rovers this evening.

After a quiet start to the match, Inverness started to look the more dangerous as Marley Watkins, Edward Ofere and Graeme Shinnie all had shots just a few minutes apart, but none of them could find the target.

Ofere did manage to force a save from David McGurn shortly after as he attempted to head in from a corner, but the Raith keeper reacted quickly to make the stop.

Shinnie came close just before the break when he tried to power the ball home from the middle of the box after a quick counter-attack from the hosts, but McGurn was alert again.

Watkins caused problems for the visitors early in the second half when he forced McGurn to tip the ball behind for a corner, but the keeper denied Ross Draper with a header from the resulting set piece.

The hosts' dominance paid off with just over an hour on the board as Danny Devine popped up to score his first goal for the club, heading into the top corner from a Greg Tansey corner kick.

Clear-cut chances remained scarce, but Ryan Conroy came close to forcing a replay when he attempted to head in in the final minute of the game, but his effort was saved.

The result sets up a last-four meeting with either Dundee United or Celtic for Inverness.
