Chris Powell praises 'hungry' Grant Holt

Huddersfield boss Chris Powell pays tribute to Grant Holt after the striker wreaked havoc in the 3-1 win away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell believes that Grant Holt's performance in the 3-1 win away to Wolverhampton Wanderers was borne out of his hunger to prove a point.

The Wigan Athletic forward, who joined the Terriers on loan at the weekend, marked his full debut for the club by grabbing two assists at Molineux last night.

Holt fell out of favour with the Latics under boss Uwe Rosler, and Powell is happy to see the 33-year-old prove that he still has what it takes.

"He has a burning desire to show he is a footballer who played in the Premier League and should be playing at Championship level at least," he told Sky Sports News.

"I know the character and spoke to people about him and it was a no-brainer for me. Apart from his spell at Wigan he's been exceptional. I looked at him and what he could do and all he needs is a goal now.

"I spoke to him when I was allowed to and told him to show people what he's about. He may not be having the time of his life at Wigan but he can come here and lead from the front."

Victory over Wolves lifted Town up to 18th in the Championship table.
