Everton are reportedly targeting Moussa Dembele, who is a free agent after being released by French club Lyon.

Everton are reportedly interested in signing Moussa Dembele on a free transfer.

After avoiding relegation on the final day of the Premier League season, Everton will want to avoid being in a similar situation next term.

The Toffees are expected to strengthen in a number of areas over the summer, and the forward line will certainly require their attention.

Everton finished the 2022-23 campaign as the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League, registering just 34 goals in 38 matches.

Due to their ongoing concerns over Financial Fair Play, the Toffees could attempt to solve their goalscoring woes by utilising the loan and free agent market.

With Everton on the lookout for cost-effective options, inews are reporting that Dembele has emerged as a potential option.

Lyon confirmed earlier today that Dembele has left the club, bringing an end to his five-year association with the French side.

Dembele fell down the pecking order at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais after Alexandre Lacazette returned to the club from Arsenal last summer.

The 26-year-old has had to settle for only eight starts in 23 Ligue 1 appearances last term, scoring just three goals.

Dembele, who spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Atletico Madrid, scored 70 goals and provided 19 assists in 172 games for Lyon.

Everton are also believed to be considering other targets, as they look to sign at least two new strikers this summer.

A recent report claimed that Everton were plotting a move for Roma striker Tammy Abraham, who is under contract until June 2026.

However, a summer transfer now appears unlikely after the forward sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in Roma's win over Spezia on the final day of the Serie A season.
