Roy Hodgson: 'Joe Hart is my number one'

England manager Roy Hodgson insists that goalkeeper Joe Hart will retain his place in his country's starting lineup, despite a poor performance against Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening.

England manager Roy Hodgson has backed under-pressure goalkeeper Joe Hart after his poor display for Manchester City against Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening.

Hart conceded three goals, two of which he could have prevented, in City's 3-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, but Hodgson has insisted that the 26-year-old will remain as first choice for his country.

The former Fulham boss told reporters: "As far as I'm concerned, Joe Hart is my number one. He has never let me down."

Hart has made 35 appearances for England since his debut in 2008.
