Tony Pulis admits joining Crystal Palace was a "risk"

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis admits it was a "risk" to join the club, but thanks the fans for their support from the start of his reign.

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has admitted that taking over at the club this season was a "risk" in regards to his own career.

Pulis replaced Ian Holloway in November when Palace were bottom of the Premier League table and transformed the club to take them out of the relegation zone.

The Eagles still have a chance of finishing in the top half of the table and Pulis has put that down to changing the attitude at the club, as well as the support of the fans.

"If you say I was being thought of as a dinosaur, then choosing the wrong next job I'd risk being extinct. That's about right," the 56-year-old told the Daily Mail.

"The thing that worried me most when I came in was that there was a resignation that we were going down. That was from the top of the club to the bottom. We had to clear out that perception.

"The thing that helped most was the supporters. Win, lose or draw they were wonderful, and we bought into that."

Palace face title-chasers Liverpool on Monday night.
