Branislav Ivanovic: 'We must improve at Liverpool'

Branislav Ivanovic admits that Chelsea will have to improve on their performance against Maribor to have a chance of beating Liverpool on Saturday.

Branislav Ivanovic has admitted that Chelsea will have to produce an improved performance if they are to taste success against Liverpool this Saturday.

The Premier League leaders head into the match on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw with Champions League rivals Maribor, and Ivanovic has no doubt that a similar performance would not be good enough at Anfield.

"We know how our performances have to be to get the points," the Serbian told members of the media. "If we play against Liverpool like we did on Wednesday, we know it's not possible to get a result.

"It was very disappointing. We should have finished the group off, but now it's too late and we have to think about the next game.

"We didn't perform how we can. With the penalty at the end we should have won. But to be honest, maybe we didn't deserve to."

Chelsea are currently four points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
