Patrick Bamford called into England Under-21s

Gareth Southgate calls Patrick Bamford into his England Under-21 squad in place of the suspended Saido Berahino.

On-loan Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford has been called up to the England Under-21 side for Tuesday's game against San Marino.

Manager Gareth Southgate has called the 20-year-old into his squad in place of Saido Berahino, whose yellow card in their 3-0 win over Finland makes his suspended for the contest.

The West Bromwich striker has scored four goals in six appearances for the Young Lions this year, while also netting two in the Premier League.

Bamford, who signed for the Blues from Nottingham Forest for £1.5m last year before being loaned MK Dons in November, has impressed with 12 goals in 20 appearances for League One outfit this campaign.

That form saw him scoop the Player of the Month award for October.
