Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Aston Villa

Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's FA Cup fourth-round replay with Aston Villa.

On the back of yet another chastening defeat, Chelsea return to FA Cup duty on Wednesday evening for a fourth-round replay with Aston Villa in the West Midlands.

Nothing could separate the two clubs in a goalless stalemate at Stamford Bridge on January 26, a result which saw Mauricio Pochettino's men prolong their purple patch in front of the West London faithful.

However, Wolverhampton Wanderers knocked down the walls of Chelsea's fortress with a devastating 4-2 victory in Sunday's Premier League match, where a Matheus Cunha hat-trick and Axel Disasi own goal were responsible for the Blues' downfall.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the trip to Villa Park, where the victor will set up a fifth-round showdown at home to Leeds United or Plymouth Argyle.

Possible return date: Unknown

Levi Colwill's tendon problem did not clear up in time for the defender to face Wolves at the weekend, and although his issue has not worsened over the past fortnight, there is no chance that he could be involved on Wednesday.

In contrast, Colwill's fellow defender Wesley Fofana is on the long road to recovery from ACL reconstruction surgery, and the Frenchman is unlikely to be back in action before the end of the season.

Lesley Ugochukwu has spent over a month in the medical bay with the hamstring issue he sustained against Wolves on Christmas Eve, and there is still no indication when the former Rennes protege might be seen on the field again.

Robert Sanchez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Manchester City)

First-choice goalkeeper Robert Sanchez continues to make progress in his recuperation from a knee injury, and if all goes to plan, the Spaniard should be guarding the posts again later this month.

Marc Cucurella

Possible return date: Unknown

Marc Cucurella and Sanchez were both injured in Chelsea's loss to Everton on December 10, with the left-back sustaining a serious ankle problem, and he will remain out of contention for another few weeks at least.

Reece James
