Oliver Khan: "Brazil collectively imploded"

Oliver Khan believes that Brazil's naive tactics were a major contributing factor behind their 7-1 loss to Germany.

Former Germany goalkeeper Oliver Khan believes that Brazil "did everything wrong" during their 7-1 World Cup semi-final defeat at the hands of his nation last night.

The Germans were 5-0 up at the break, before a brace from substitute Andre Schurrle opened up a seven-goal advantage, while Brazil's Oscar weighed in with a late consolation.

Speaking about the match, Khan told ZDF: "Brazil collectively imploded. It was complete failure from the entire team right from the start until the very end. The Brazilians did everything wrong from a tactical point of view. It was incredible to see how they just walked into Germany's trap. They completely fell apart after the opening goal.

"I don't know whether it was the pressure that got to Brazil and whether the burden was too much for them. They clearly didn't know how to cope with everything. Brazil were very vulnerable emotionally and lacked experience."

The defeat was Brazil's first on home soil in 12 years.
