Jerome Boateng: 'Revenge not on German minds'

Jerome Boateng says that Germany will not be gunning for "revenge" when they take on Brazil tonight.

Germany defender Jerome Boateng has insisted that "revenge" will not be on the minds of his teammates when they take on Brazil in the World Cup semi-final this evening.

These two nations have met just once before at this level, with Brazil coming out on top in the 2002 final to win the trophy for a fifth time in their history.

However, Boateng has insisted that Germany are only concerned with advancing through, rather than getting even for that disappointment 12 years ago.

"There is certainly no revenge, we just want to make it to final," the Bayern Munich centre-back told FIFA.com.

The Germans have won just four of their 22 previous encounters with the South American side.
