Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk de Jong has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Newcastle United.
The 23-year-old, who joined the German outfit from FC Twente in 2012, has not started a single league game this season.
Gladbach board member Hans Meyer told reporters: "We will possibly loan Luuk at Christmas but definitely not to a competitor.
"Our head coach Lucien Favre has said from the start he didn't have 100% confidence in De Jong filling the striker position but I think we'll find a solution."
Newcastle are believed to have tried to sign the Dutchman before he moved to Germany.
