Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday finishes goalless

Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday play out a uneventful Championship stalemate at the Reebok Stadium.

An uninspired game between Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday ended 0-0 at the Reebok Stadium this afternoon to leave the home side still looking for their first win of the season after six games.

Neither team were able to create a chance in a dire opening to the match, although a mazy Mark Davies run almost livened up proceedings before he was dispossessed just as he was about to shoot.

In the 19th minute, Wanderers defender Dorian Dervite headed Owen Garvan's corner into the hands of Keiren Westwood to register the first shot of the afternoon.

The visitors began to grow into the game and Atdhe Nuhiu thought that he had put the Owls ahead, but the flag was raised for offside.

A superb piece of defending from Matt Mills then prevented the visitors from taking the lead as he cleared Chris Maguire's shot off the line.

Liam Feeney flashed a shot wide of the post early in the second half as the game seemed to come to life somewhat after the break.

Wednesday then went close twice, as Joe Mattock's header bounced narrowly over the bar before Andy Lonergan produced a reflex save to deny Nuhiu.

Giles Coke, Nuhiu and Stevie May all had chances to win it for the visitors late on, but the point has ensured that Wednesday are still unbeaten away from home after three matches on the road.
