Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs. Bolton Wanderers

Sports Mole looks ahead to Wednesday night's Lancashire derby in the Championship as Blackburn Rovers take on Bolton Wanderers.

Blackburn Rovers must quickly turn their attention back to the Championship on Wednesday as they host Lancashire rivals Bolton Wanderers after earning an FA Cup quarter-final replay against Liverpool.

Gary Bowyer's side kept the in-form Reds at bay at Anfield on Sunday to keep alive their hopes of reaching a Wembley semi-final.

In the league, Blackburn are 11th in the table, safely 17 points clear of the bottom three but also 14 behind the top six.

It would take a monumental run for them to join the playoff party and, with the chance of FA Cup success, the league could take a back seat in the final two months of the season.

Bowyer could freshen up the side that started at Anfield, with Alex Baptiste ineligible against his parent club, while Jordan Rhodes is one of the players hoping to earn a recall to the starting XI.

Surprising talk of a loan move away for the frontman has emerged, but the 25-year-old appears to still be part of Bowyer's plans with three goals in his last four games at Ewood Park.

Bolton, meanwhile, enter the match with just two wins from their last 11 games and a nasty record in recent away games.

The Trotters have lost their last four on the road, conceding 13 goals in the process.

Their last two matches both came at home, however, and four points were taken from the visits of Brighton & Hove Albion and Reading to move Neil Lennon's side 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

Their 1-1 draw with Reading last week brought about season-ending injuries for Kevin McNaughton and Zach Clough, with Lennon already bringing in Giles Coke to bolster his ranks.

David Wheater also came off injured against the Royals and it appears that the defender will now miss most of the season.

Bolton have won six of the last seven meetings between these two, coming out on top 2-1 in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day last year.
