Arsene Wenger: 'Football responded well after Paris attacks'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that football responded well after the terrorist attacks in Paris.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that football has responded with "union and togetherness" after the attacks in Paris.

Terrorists killed 129 people after striking six different locations, including the Stade de France, in the French capital on Friday night.

Tuesday's friendly between England and Les Bleus went on nonetheless, with the Wembley arch illuminated in the colours of France's flag and the whole stadium singing 'La Marseillaise' before the game.

Wenger, who was in Paris when the attacks took place, told reporters: "The football world has a big union and togetherness. You always think after this kind of event - do you continue to play or do you stop your life?

"It was fantastic for France and it showed the class of England to see the arch of Wembley in French colours.

"Now we must get on with life and respond to the situation in a positive way. You can't stop everything. You have to focus on something else."

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has revealed that security at this weekend's fixtures will be on "extra high alert" following the attacks.
