Toby Alderweireld: 'Tough to stop Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang'

Toby Alderweireld describes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the complete package, but is ready to keep the striker quiet when Tottenham Hotspur face Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has acknowledged that it will be "very difficult" keeping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang quiet against Arsenal this weekend.

The 28-year-old netted a debut goal for the Gunners last time out, bringing his impressive goalscoring rate from Borussia Dortmund with him to English football.

Aubameyang now comes up against Arsenal's hated rivals Tottenham at Wembley Stadium on Saturday lunchtime, aiming to become an instant hero by finding the net in his first taste of the North London derby.

Belgian defender Alderweireld could be tasked with stopping that from happening should he be given the nod at centre-back, and he is looking forward to the challenge.

"He's very quick, he's a good finisher, he has it all," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "He is in a good moment now as well so it's going to be very difficult to beat him but I think we will be ready for it.

"You have to work your mind. One against one, on the same line, he will beat you, so you have to be very clever, you have to read the situation and try to beat him with your head."

Aubameyang scored in both of Dortmund's Europa League wins over Spurs in 2016 and also found a way through in November's Champions League clash at the Westfalenstadion.
