Former Anthony Joshua opponent Eric Molina handed two-year ban

American heavyweight Eric Molina is handed a two-year ban due to failing a drugs test after his fight with Anthony Joshua in December 2016.

American heavyweight Eric Molina has been handed a two-year suspension due to a failed drugs test after his defeat to Anthony Joshua in December 2016.

Joshua required just three rounds to successfully defend his IBF title, but it has emerged that Molina tested positive for dexamethasone after the bout.

Molina has since fought twice but the 36-year-old will spend a prolonged period out of the sport after being handed the punishment by UK Anti-Doping.

The two-time world title challenger is not permitted to return to competition until October 27, 2019, with the provisional ban having begun on October 28, 2017.

Molina has questioned the severity of his punishment, but admitted to being injected with Tribedoce DX - which contains the banned substance - on the day of the fight.
