WWE superstar Darren Young has insisted that he has announced he is gay to show that someone's sexuality should not matter.
Young, who is one half of the Prime Time Players, made the revelation during an impromptu interview on Thursday, and the New Jersey-born entertainer has admitted that he hopes to "make a difference".
The 33-year-old told TMZ: "I'm a WWE Superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now that I'm gay.
"I'm hoping to be able to make a difference. It's very important to me that people understand that somebody's sexual preference shouldn't really matter."
WWE released a statement soon after Young's comments, revealing that they were "proud" of the superstar for being open about his sexuality.
