Zakarias Tallroth looking to father for inspiration to succeed

Swedish wrestler Zakarias Tallroth suggests that having an Olympic silver medallist for a father will help to inspire him to succeed at the European Games in Baku.

Swedish wrestler Zakarias Tallroth has said that having an Olympic silver medallist for a father will hopefully inspire him to succeed.

Tallroth will be trying to impress at the Greco-Roman 71 kg event at the 2015 European Games in Baku, with the wrestler looking to his father's achievements for inspiration.

"I'm proud of what he accomplished back in the days, but it also raises the expectations on me," said Tallroth, according to the official Baku 2015 website.

"You hear a lot from old men about how good and strong he was although sometimes I think the myth exceeds the reality. Apparently he could break stones with his hands, I have heard it all, but it's just fun.

"When I was younger I probably had a lot of pressure, but if you'd compare the two of us I'd never be able to achieve what he did. Then I'd have to wrestle for 10 more years. So I'm just trying to get inspired by hopefully having the right genes to succeed."

Tallroth's father, Roger Tallroth, was also crowned a European champion in 1984.
