Leon Rattigan: 'I'll give my all to win bronze for Team England'

Leon Rattigan says that he will 'leave his heart on the mat' in his bronze-medal encounter with Soso Tamarau in the men's wrestling 97kg freestyle event.

England wrestler Leon Rattigan has declared that he will 'give it his all' in the men's 97kg freestyle bronze-medal final at the Commonwealth Games.

The 26-year-old was defeated by India's Satywart Kadian at the SECC in Glasgow earlier today to set up a meeting with Soso Tamarau of Nigeria.

Speaking after his fight, Rattigan told reporters: "I wanted to keep it close until the second period and then go for it to try and get the win. The match could have gone either way and that's just the way it is in wrestling – sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

"I'm going to leave my heart and leave everything on the mat in my bronze medal match – I've spent the last six years working towards this so I'm going to give it my all."

Kadian won the second period 4-0 after a scoreless opener.
