Zach Parise: 'We didn't deserve a medal'

American hockey captain Zach Parise says that his side "didn't deserve" to win a medal in Sochi following their 5-0 loss to Finland on Saturday.

American hockey captain Zach Parise has said that his side "didn't deserve" to win a medal following their 5-0 loss to Finland on Saturday in the men's bronze-medal game at the Winter Olympics.

The result came as a shock after the US had scored 20 goals in their first four games.

Parise told NHL.com: "The way we played the last two games we didn't deserve [a medal].

"We got outplayed. Coming into the final round I thought we were playing well. I'm kind of embarrassed where we're at now."

The US had suffered a 1-0 loss to Canada in the semi-finals.
