American Alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin has insisted that she does not want to be known as the 'next Lindsey Vonn or Tina Maze'.
The 18-year-old became the youngest ever winner of the women's slalom at the Olympics by clinching gold in the event in Sochi on Friday.
Shiffrin has been compared to her compatriot Vonn and double Olympic champion Maze of Slovenia, but the teenager insists that she does not want to be compared to anyone.
"It's amazing to be compared to them and I'm really honoured to have that comparison, but I don't want to be the young Tina or the next Lindsey Vonn," AFP quotes her as saying.
"I want to be Mikaela Shiffrin and hopefully this gold medal is going to prove that.
"It's an amazing feeling to win an Olympic gold and it's going to be something I chalk up as one of my favourite experiences for the rest of my life. But my life's not over yet."
The USA have won 27 medals in Sochi so far.
