Lolo Jones: "Bobsled has made me stronger"

United States bobsleigh brakewoman Lolo Jones says that she feels stronger for taking up the sport.

Lolo Jones has said that switching from athletics to the bobsleigh has made her stronger.

The hurdler, who finished fourth in the 100m event at the London Olympics, began bobsledding after the 2008 Games in Beijing.

"Bobsled has made me stronger. The lesson in humbleness is definitely gold for sure," Times-Standard quotes the 31-year-old as saying.

"These are my teammates and unlike track and field, I have lived with each one of these girls. I've lived with Jamie, Aja, Lauryn. I've worked with them 12, 15 hours a day. I've taken eight-hour car rides, four girls in a car for eight hours. They are our mini-family.

"I know everything they've gone through, every tear they've cried. I just want to be there and lift them up and cheer as loud as I can for them because I know if I was on the podium, they would do the same for me."

Jones was the brakewoman for the United States' third pairing, finishing in 11th alongside Jazmine Fenlator.
