Great Britain's Elise Christie has eased into the quarter-finals in the 1000m short track speed skating with victory in her heat.

The European champion opened up a huge lead in the final lap to finish 2.7 clear of the rest of the field.

The 23-year-old completed the distance in 1:30.588,2.7 to see her safely into Friday's quarter-finals at the 2014 Sochi Games.

Christie was stripped of a silver medal in the 500m event after being disqualified for causing a crash, before missing out in the 1500m for crossing inside the finish line.
