Elise Christie: 'I won't be bullied in pursuit of medal'

Team GB's Elise Christie insists she will not be bullied by her fellow competitors in her pursuit of a medal in Sochi.

Team GB short track competitor Elise Christie has insisted that she will not be bullied in her pursuit of a medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Christie, who was hospitalised after a nasty fall the last time she appeared on a Russian ice rink, claims that if any other athlete targets her, then she will "fight back".

"There have have been times this year where I've been ganged up on," the Scot told Sportsbeat. "It's tough because some teams have got lots of skaters and they work together, our team is quite small.

"They are obviously threatened by me and that's a positive because it shows they think I'm skating well. I've tried switching around my tactics a bit now so they don't know what version of me is going to turn up. This is a rough sport, it's unpredictable and that's why it's fun.

"I'm not known as the most aggressive skater and I try to stay out of trouble. However, I've got a big ego, if someone wants a fight then I will fight back."

Christie begins her medal charge on Monday in the 500m heats.
