Vanessa Mae links music to skiing

British violinist Vanessa Mae believes that participating in the Sochi Games will help her music.

British violinist Vanessa Mae has said that being part of the Sochi Games will add "a new dimension" to her music.

The 35-year-old will compete in alpine skiing for Thailand under the name Vanessa Vanakorn, as her father is from the Asian country.

"There have been days when I've literally hopped on the plane after a race and had a show the next day," she told Russia Today.

"And I have to say that it brings a new dimension to my music. If you can widen your horizons, it obviously will translate back to your day job."

Mae is just one of two athletes competing for Thailand in the 2014 Winter Olympics.
