Katie Summerhayes: 'Massive mistakes cost me in final'

Team GB skier Katie Summerhayes blames herself for "two massive mistakes" in the Olympic ski slopestyle final in Sochi.

Great Britain skier Katie Summerhayes has blamed herself for "two massive mistakes" during her second attempt in the Olympic ski slopestyle final in Sochi, where she finished seventh.

The Sheffield-born teenager fell during her first attempt, before securing a score of 70.60 on her second go.

"I think I was scored correctly [in the second run] I made two massive mistakes and it's my fault really my run wasn't clean," Summerhayes told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"It's alright (the result) but I skied better in qualifying. I got to the final and that was the target, so that's something I suppose.

"The first run I was chilled and ready to go and the second run felt better, but I knew if I did a good run I'd get a medal so tried to keep calm, but I'm disappointed."

Canadians Dara Howell and Kim Lamarre earned gold and bronze respectively in the final at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park, with United States skier Devin Logan securing silver.
