Canada skier Yuki Tsubota escapes serious injury after a crash in the ski slopestyle final, according to a team spokesperson.

Canada skier Yuki Tsubota has escaped serious injury after a crash in the final of the ski slopestyle event at the Sochi Olympics.

The Vancouver-born 20-year-old crashed on her second run, landing short of the slope on a jump, before being stretchered off the slope.

"All I've been told is that she's okay and the team doctor's with her," Team Canada spokesperson Nadia M'Seffar told reporters. "They're taking good care of her."

The gold medal went to Tsubota's compatriot Dara Howell, with Devin Logan second for the United States and Kim Lamarre third for Canada.

Katie Summerhayes of Great Britain came seventh.
