Eve Muirhead: 'The rest helped us'

Team GB curling skip Eve Muirhead says that a rest day paid dividends after her team put themselves within touching distance of the semi-finals with a 9-6 win over Russia.

Great Britain women's curing skip Eve Muirhead has said that a day of rest helped her team beat Russia today.

Muirhead made the decision to give her side a day off yesterday following an 8-6 loss to Switzerland on Saturday, and she said it proved to be the right decision after their 9-6 win against the Russian Federation today.

"We've been relaxed all week. This is what we've trained hard for and this is the only big event all of us are missing a medal from. We're also enjoying it and having fun," she told reporters after the victory.

"We knew it was going to be tough, it was never going to be a walk in the park.

"It was a good thing we had yesterday off. We came off a loss and we regrouped and relaxed. Things are good, I'm happy with how everyone is playing and I'm looking forward to playing Denmark now."

Muirhead's side will face Denmark at 3pm GMT, where victory will ensure a place in the semi-finals for Team GB.
