Eve Muirhead pleased to continue winning momentum

Team GB's women's curling skip Eve Muirhead was pleased that they could keep up their winning momentum as they broke a record in thrashing Japan 12-3 in Sochi.

Team GB's women's curling skip Eve Muirhead was pleased that they put in another good performance in the 12-3 thrashing of Japan on Friday afternoon.

The British team secured the result with a record-breaking steal of five on the seventh end, becoming the first women's outfit to achieve such a feat in the Olympics.

Muirhead and company have now won three out of their five matches and have put themselves in medal contention, and the captain has praised her teammates for helping her make the important shots.

"The momentum has been starting to build and we continued it today," she told reporters. "None of these teams are going to be easy, we knew Japan were going to come out sharp and we knew we had to come out firing from the start and that is exactly what we did.

"The girls are all playing really well, setting me up to play these shots – it was a good solid team performance.

"I am happy with the way I played today. We were enjoying ourselves out there and taking in all the atmosphere, feeling relaxed. We just need to continue that."

Team GB will face South Korea and Switzerland in a double header in Sochi on Saturday.
