Mike Hay confident of Team GB success

Team GB's Chef de Mission Mike Hay backs British athletes to have a successful Winter Olympics campaign in Sochi.

Team GB's Chef de Mission Mike Hay believes that the British athletes can have a success Winter Games in Sochi.

UK Sport has set a target of at least three medals for the team, and Hay believes that that objective can be met.

"I'm a canny Scot so I will err on the side of caution but we have a number of athletes competing at a top-class level in winter sports," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"Without putting any additional pressure on, across more disciplines and more sports than ever before, we're a strong team.

"We are confident we will do well and there is a great spirit in the camp."

The opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympics will be held on Friday.
