Freestyle skier James Machon has admitted that he was inspired by the performance of Jessica Ennis-Hill at the London Olympics Games in 2012.
Ennis-Hill won the gold medal in the heptathlon in the Summer Games 18 months ago after being heavily favoured in the event in her home country, and Machon wants to emulate her success in the half-pipe in Sochi.
"What Jess Ennis did at London 2012 still gives me goosebumps. To have all that pressure on her, everyone was expecting her win, and to win an Olympic gold like that, it was just incredible," Machon told Sportsbeat.
"She is my role model and my sporting hero and it helps that she's also from my hometown. Her achievements give me even more motivation about achieving my goals in Sochi and beyond."
The 23-year-old will be taking part in his first Winter Olympic Games.
