Stuart Horsepool sympathises with Elise Christie

British short track performance director Stuart Horsepool believes that Elise Christie was unlucky not to have won three medals at the 2014 Sochi Games.

British short track performance director Stuart Horsepool has said that he does not agree with the decision to penalise Elise Christie in the women's 1,000m speedskating semi-finals at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The 23-year-old was not allowed to compete in the B final in Sochi on Friday for impeding Li Jianrou of China.

Christie was also stripped of the silver medal in the 500m event and was disqualified from the 1,500m last week.

"We have to respect the decision of the referee but I don't agree with it," Horsepool told Team GB's official website.

"I wish sport was fair because if it was Elise would be here with one, two or even three medals."

Great Britain have won four medals in Sochi so far.
