British short track speed skater Charlotte Gilmartin has said that she was "disappointed" not to have progressed beyond the quarter-final stage of the women's 500m event at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
However, the youngster insists that she gave her all to qualify for the semi-finals on Thursday.
"I was slightly disappointed not to be able to doing anything in the race, but my weakness has always been my start and I have been trying to work on that," Team GB's official website quotes her as saying
"I wasn't with them from the beginning and they are some of the fastest girls in the world. It is too much to be able to catch up when they get ahead.
"So I was a bit disappointed, but I gave it everything I had."
Gilmartin's Team GB teammate Elise Christie reached the final of the short track 500m speed skating event, but failed to finish in the top three.
