Team GB snowboarder Ben Kilner "gutted" with half-pipe performance

Ben Kilner admits that he was not good enough in the qualifying round of the snowboarding half-pipe competition at the Sochi Games.

Great Britain snowboarder Ben Kilner has admitted that he was not nearly good enough in the qualifying round for the half-pipe semi-finals at 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi on Tuesday.

Kilner, along with fellow Team GB athlete Dom Harington, did not manage to reach the latter stages of the competition, and he said that he plans to take part in the next Games in Pyeongchang.

"It didn't quite go how I planned," he told Team GB's official website. "I was really trying to push it but everything just got the better of me.

"I always put a lot of pressure on myself and the nerves were fine. I was in good spirits and tried to enjoy the moment. I'm a bit gutted, to say the least.

"Pyeongchang is only four years away and I want to be there. I just need to put in some hard graft to get that same feeling that Jenny Jones [who won a medal for Britain] did."

Ireland's Seamus O'Connor qualified for the semi-final later on Tuesday.
