BBC apologise for unprofessional commentary

The BBC apologise for their commentators getting "very excited" about Jenny Jones's medal in the slopestyle event at the Sochi Games.

The BBC have admitted that their commentary team for the slopestyle final, in which Jenny Jones won Team GB's first ever snow medal at the Winter Olympics, got over-excited.

Aimee Fuller, Jones's fellow athlete who was in the commentary box following her semi-final defeat in the same event, was subject to more than 300 complaints from viewers.

"[It was a] truly historic occasion [and the commentary team got] understandably very excited," The Guardian quotes a BBC statement as saying.

"On occasion this excitement got the better of them and this is something we will work on for future events."

Britain are currently 17th in the medal table at the Sochi Games.
