GB half-pipe skier Rowan Cheshire "disappointed" to withdraw

Rowan Cheshire is disappointed to have to withdraw from Thursday's ski half-pipe event, but vows to battle for a medal in Pyeongchang.

Team GB half-pipe skier Rowan Cheshire has revealed her disappointment at having to withdraw from Thursday's event following the concussion she suffered in a practice session on Sunday.

Cheshire said that she thought she had timed her run of form well coming into the Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 and vowed to come back stronger for the Pyeongchang Games in 2018.

"I am hugely disappointed I won't be able to compete on Thursday," she told Team GB's official website. "I felt as though I was coming into my best form of the season and had my tricks nailed.

"I am very grateful for the amazing support I have had from the Team GB medical team and of course my coach Pat Sharples. After experiencing what it is like to be at an Olympic Games I am determined to be back in four years time and be up there competing for an Olympic medal.

"I cannot express how grateful I am for all the get well messages and support I have had from everyone here in Sochi and back in the UK. It means a lot."

Emma Lonsdale is the only GB competitor in Thursday's event.
