Team GB skier Chemmy Alcott: "I'm so proud"

Chemmy Alcott is proud of her performance as she managed 19th in the women's downhill event on Wednesday.

Great Britain's skier Chemmy Alcott has revealed her pride to have managed another top-20 finish in the women's downhill during her last Winter Olympics as a competitor.

Alcott, who has recovered from three leg breaks in her career, was inside two seconds of the winners on Wednesday morning and said that she enjoyed pushing herself once more at the highest level.

"You get a two-minute run to show everything that you've done for four years, and for me to prove that every time I've come back from leg breaks it has been worth it," she told BBC Sport. "I think top 20 in the Olympics is amazing justice and I'm so proud. I did not disappoint myself.

"I did not ski pretty. It was far from pretty, but it was fast and I'm really proud. [At the start] there are a lot of nerves up there; some of the girls don't have as much experience as me. So there's a lot of self-talk going on. I just had to stick to my plan. I just went out there and did it.

"Maybe the conditions helped me because I didn't get so many vibrations through my metal leg. I certainly enjoyed going to the limit."

The gold medal in the event was split between Tina Maze of Slovenia and Dominique Gisin of Switzerland.
