Switzerland skier Dominique Gisin: Winning gold "is awesome"

Switzerland gold medallist Dominique Gisin reveals her delight at taking the top prize in the women's downhill on Wednesday.

Switzerland's gold medal-winning skier in the women's downhill competition on Wednesday, Dominique Gisin, has revealed her delight at taking the top prize.

Gisin's time of 1:41.57 was matched by Tina Maze of Slovenia, which meant that the gold medal was shared for the first time in Winter Olympics alpine history.

"I didn't want to look at the big screens," she told BBC Sport at the end of the competition. "It's crazy. There was a lot of nerves, a lot of sweat, lot of emotions.

"It was lonely there in the leader's box. It's incredible, how else can I say it. It's a big honour to share the gold with Tina, she's an amazing woman. This is awesome."

Gisin's fellow Swiss skier Lara Gut took bronze, while Great Britain's Chemmy Alcott finished 19th.
