Lamin Deen: 'Watching Vancouver Games inspired me'

Great Britain bobsleigh pilot Lamin Deen reveals that watching the Vancouver Olympic Games in 2010 made him determined to reach Sochi.

Great Britain bobsleigh pilot Lamin Deen has revealed that watching the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010 inspired him to reach Sochi.

Deen aimed to qualify for the Games in Vancouver, but struggled to combine that with his training in the military with the Grenadier Guards.

However, after being given extended absence, he was able to attain his dream this time around.

Deen told BBC Sport: "I was watching it on my sofa in Manchester and that's where I made the decision I had to go to the next Olympics.

"I didn't want to go as a brakeman, though. I wanted to be in control of my own destiny and try out as a pilot."

Deen and his teammate John Baines are currently 23rd in the two-man event after their first two runs of the competition on Sunday.
