Meryl Davis "unsure" how to respond to winning Olympic gold medal

USA figure skater Meryl Davis says that her and partner Charlie White were so focused on winning Olympic gold that they don't know how to celebrate their victory.

American Meryl Davis has admitted that she doesn't know how to react to winning a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Davis and her partner Charlie White became the first US figure skaters to ever win a medal with their performance on Monday night, scoring 195.52 points to pip defending champions Canada.

Following their flawless showing in the free dance programme, Davis told reporters: "It hasn't sunk in yet to be honest - not even close.

"We feel like maybe it will take seeing our families and friends for it to really sink it. We were saying that we prepared so well for what it was we wanted to put onto the ice that we don't even know how to react now.

"We were so focused on the event that now that it's over we're like, 'Where do we go? What do we do?'"

Team GB pairing Nicholas Buckland and Penny Coomes finished in 10th position.
