Nicholas Buckland "frustrated" at figure skating point penalty

Team GB figure skater Nicholas Buckland says being penalised for an extended lift during the short dance program is both "frustrating and disappointing."

Great Britain's figure skater Nicholas Buckland has admitted his frustration at being penalised for a extended lift during the short dance program at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Buckland and teammate Penny Coomes secured 11th place with a score of 59.33 and qualified for tomorrow's free dance program finals.

Speaking after the contest, Buckland told TeamGB.com: "It's frustrating. We still got a lot of points for the lift; we gained more points from it than we lost but you still don't want to lose a point.

"We love that lift and nobody has ever done it before but we need to keep working on it so it doesn't happen again. We train to be perfectionists, so it's a bit disappointing."

Meryl Davis and Charlie White of the USA lead the standings with a score of 78.89.
