Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn returns to training after injury misery

Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn returns to training after being out injured for almost two years.

Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn has said that she is taking it slow as she makes her long-awaited return after almost two years out injured.

American Vonn, who missed the Sochi Olympics after a string of knee injuries in 2013, is aiming to be back for World Cup action in Canada in December.

Vonn told reporters: "I've been working on technique, nothing fast, just taking it slow, doing a couple of draws and gates.

"I'm not focused on the overall this season, I'm just focused on trying to win races and trying to get back on the podium.

"Obviously I can do well in the World Championships. I try to not push pressure on myself, I'm taking it slower than last year, hopefully, I'll be able to be on the podium again."

The 29-year-old won four World Cup titles between 2008 and 2012 before her injury.
