Japan's Ayana Onozuka "happy" with bronze medal

Ayana Onozuka says that she is "really happy and really glad" to have won bronze in the women's half-pipe in Sochi.

Japanese freestyle skier Ayana Onozuka has said that she is delighted with her performance in the women's half-pipe at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The 25-year-old, who made the switch from alpine skiing, won the bronze medal in the event in Sochi on Thursday.

"I'm really happy and really glad," The AP quotes her as saying. "I got much more than I was expecting.

"I am surprised to have gotten third place. I can't believe that I have got third place.

"I was nervous the whole day and I couldn't concentrate, but I tried not to worry about it."

Maddie Bowman won the gold medal, while France's Marie Martinod clinched silver.
