The German Olympic committee have confirmed that an unnamed athlete has tested positive for a banned substance at the Sochi Winter Olympics.

The International Olympic committee informed the German camp on Thursday evening of the illegal sample.

The identity of the athlete in question, or whether they have medalled at the Games in Russia, has not yet been revealed.

Germany are currently third in the Sochi medals table, having won eight gold, four silver and four bronze.
