Eric Frenzel: 'Nordic combined is the hardest sport'

Nordic combined champion Eric Frenzel believes that the sport is the hardest at the Winter Olympics.

Nordic combined champion Eric Frenzel has said that the sport is the hardest at the Winter Olympics.

The event begins with a ski jump before competitors take part in a cross country ski.

The German told NBC Sports: "It's the hardest. You must be good in your head and good in your body. You need a lot of power. For me, the Nordic combined athletes are the kings of Nordic winter sport.

"On the cross country track I think also it's important to have good endurance. Our muscle training is only important for the jumping."

Frenzel won gold in the 10km individual normal hill contest.
